Hamlet Act 1

The king has died and the place is a mess. The queen decided to marry the now dead king'a brother and prince hamlet is not happy. I though it was sickening to know that this brother had not respect for his deceased family member. He just married her not so long after the kings death. And poor prince hamlet was still grieving, when the new king told him to get over his fathers death. I personally would have gone off if someone told me to get over someone's death, that act was so disrespectful. But what else can you expect from a kind of person like Claudius. In the beginning of the play, the watchman see the ghost of the dead king. They tell the prince what they see and he sees it too later on in the act. Some people argue that at parts of the play hamlet imagines the ghost, but I think that it's king hamlets ghost at all times. Even if the prince's wife wasn't able to see the ghost when the prince hamlet could.

  1. When you say "Prince's wife" you mean Gertrude, right?

The ghost is such an interesting and complex figure. I don't think we can "solve" the riddle of its nature. Without a doubt, the ghost is right about what it says to Hamlet in Act 1. That, however, does not necessarily mean its appearance in Act 3 is not a figment of Hamlet's mind.
